“Hell on Wheels” is AMC’s latest attempt to continue its winning streak, and will follow the much anticipated “The Walking Dead” on Sunday nights. “Hell on Wheels” is a dramatic television series created and produced by Joe and Tony Gayton. Set in 1865, the series stars Anson Mount as Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier who is determined to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who murdered his wife. The building of the transcontinental railroad forces change to the west and its inhabitants. All along the roadbed boomtowns spring up, first to support railroad construction but leads to permanent settlement.

The series are starred by Anson Mount as Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier; Common as Elam Ferguson, a freed slave; Dominique McElligott as Lily Bell, a widow of a surveyor; Colm Meaney as Thomas “Doc” Durant, a businessman and investor; Ben Esler as Sean McGinnes, a young man who looks his fortune in the west; Philip Burke as Mickey McGinnes, Sean’s brother; Eddie Spears as Joseph Black Moon, a Native American who is between the attract of the new world and the hold of his ancestors. “Hell on Wheels” will roll soon onto the TV schedule on November 6, 2011 and the network has given us our best look yet at the new western.
