Torrey Smith who was born on January 26, 1989 is a wide receiver and kickoff returner in who was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Ravens drafted Torrey Smith out of Maryland in April in the hope that he could be a credible downfield target for Joe Flacco and open some room underneath for Anquan Boldin. After recording zero catches in the first two games of the season, it seemed that the Ravens had not got a potential game-breaker from the rookie Torrey Smith. However, the Ravens turned to pick the rookie as a replacement for Lee Evans inactive for Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams.
Since Evans who suffers an ankle injury was ruled out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Rams, Smith gave his surprising performance. Torrey Smith had got his first three catches for touchdowns totaling 133 yards that ignited the Baltimore Ravens’ franchise record-setting day on offense in a 37-7 defeat Sunday. With Smith’s help, the Ravens set two franchise records. The franchise records they got are one for most offensive yards in the first half with 406 and another for most offensive yards in a game with 533. “I’ve been practicing well for the last few weeks. This week I definitely had my best practice as a Raven.” Smith said after Baltimore’s easy 37-7 win. “Me and Joe (Flacco) were clicking on all pages.”
