The Giants lifts George Halas Trophy by won overtime at the NFC championship NFL football game Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, in San Fransisco.
The team won 20-17 to advance to Super Bowl XLVI. The New York Giants will play the New England Patriots on February 5th in Indiana Polis. It will be a super rematch lead by Eli Manning, and it’s time on older brother Peyton’s home field. Eli Manning said, “It doesn’t matter to me where’re you’re playing it or the fact that it’s in Indiana Polis. I’m just excited about being in one.” Eli had become the first quarter back in NFL history to win five play-off games on the road.
The Giants vs. the New England Patriots, Coughin vs. Belichick, Eli vs. Brady. Actually it’s not really like something new. That was the 2007 season all over again. It makes the team doesn’t predict to much about the challenge, they just consider the Patriots’ have-known reputation.
Giants defensive end, Osi Umenyora said this about the Patriots, “ It’s awesome and we look forward to the challenge. They are a great football team. They have always been a great football team. We are looking forward to it, and it’s going to be great game.” This is also about the returning of the coach, Tom Coughlin. Osi asked his coach,” Have you thought about how this is coming down? Do you realize that this is scary because of the way it is coming about?” but Coughlin didn’t want to go there. “I’m trying to fight it.”
“ Everything that happened (then) is happening all over again.” Osi added,” I’m sure it will be tremendous copy. For the two of us matching up again, resuming the 2007/2008 battle.”
We can say they are similar, but it doesn’t mean the outcome is going to be the same. Nothing guaranteed.
Seemingly, Tim Tebow is a name that couldn’t be separated of NFL Playoffs euphoria. Supporter, especially Denver Broncos fans adore Tebow as he gives credit to the rest of the team, just not himself.
Tebow joined the Denver Broncos in October and after that the team started winning more games, including four in a row on last minute drives. Tebow became a sensation with his plays and what has been dubbed Tebowing, his practice of kneeling down for a moment of silent prayer after he scores touchdowns.
But the victory doesn’t with them last Saturday. At the first quarter of the Broncos’ playoff game against the New England Patriots, the result is 45-10 for New England Patriots. However, it’s not a reason for the fans and coach to blame the team. T
The Denver Broncos fans cheer on the team with others in the Dining area at the Sport Station in downtown Loveland during the game. The praises and enthusiasm remain for Broncos and Tebow.
They said the Broncos players have given their all and they called Tebow as an amazing hardworker. “He gives his all to everything. Some of the veteran players said nobody works harder than he does off and on the field,” said a fan, Scott Barber.
Another is Maggie Reinholtz from Fort Collins. Reinholtz who was wearing a jersey with Tebow’s number 15 on it said it’s just exciting, and for Tebow,” He’s a good leader. He genuinely means well. He inspires the team, which is good because they haven’t had that for a long time.”
A woman from Johnstown has a little different reason for become Tebow’s fan. It’s not only about Tebow’s passion for the game but also the fact that Tebow is a Christian. He makes a lot of people think about their beliefs.”
The support also came from the coach, John Fox. He told that he was proud of all players last night. “I thought they accomplished a lot. I thought we came a long ways from a 1-4 start with a football team that had no off-season, no OTAs. You know, really, I was as proud of them as any team I have coached.”
Since the league instituted its current play format in 2002, with four division winners and two Wild Card teams earning playoff berths, three Wild Card teams have advanced to the Super Bowl. The Broncos are perhaps the biggest surprise of any Wild Card team in the AFC Playoffs as the team recently has the toughest QB, Tim Tebow. Meanwhile, the Steelers and Baltimore Ravens had their typical battle for supremacy in the AFC North. Two losses to the Ravens relegated the Steelers to playing an AFC Wild Card game. Continue
In its most impressive and exciting game of the season, the Heat defeated the Hawks 116-109 in triple overtime at Philips Arena without two of the best players in the NBA and only 10 players in uniform. On the court was despair without the coming of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Somehow, the Heat’s mix-and-match ensemble lasted three overtimes and won it. Contributing a big part of that was veteran forward Udonis Haslem, who got a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench to give the Heat some inside punch. He also hit his first three-pointer of the season. Continue
The West Virginia Mountaineers were too strong to stop, and the issue said that Darwin Cook could only be stopped by the Orange Bowl mascot. G. Smith wrote the recording of any bowl game with six touchdown passes. At Wednesday night, with their high offense power, Mountaineers made a new bowl scoring record. But well-being Cook made the critical play by returning a touchdown to breakdown the game open. The final 2:29 for a 49-20, it was the peak scoring half by the team in a bowl game. According to Cook, “I always envisioned making great plays, if you think it will happen, it will happen.”
Boyd stated. “Momentum swung not in our favor, and it was hard to recapture,” and also “West Virginia is a great offense. You can’t really get behind them. We couldn’t stop them. Guys were gassed. Their legs were going. It was a tough loss, pretty embarrassing.”
For the Tigers, defensive woes’re nothing, winning their Atlantic Coast Conference title in 20 years in firstly, could not do anything. Even it was 30 points at least in 6 regular season games.
West Virginia run straight forward for the first time early in the additional period on an 80 yard landing drive capped by Austin’s 27 yard catch, creating the score 21-17. Cook’s carryout touchdown came next, and the Mountaineers were off to the battles. Holgorsen said that “You don’t score 70 points by being good on offense and you score 70 points by being good on all three sides of the ball.”
NEW ORLEANS, Michigan players celebrate their win from Virginia. All of Michigan fans look very happy. Defensive player tackle, Mike Martin said, “All the tough times we’ve been through makes it even more special and To be the fifth team that ever in Michigan history has won 11 games in a season, it means a lot.”
The victory capped an impressive debut season for Hoke, who has led the Wolverines (11-2) back to prominence with their first BCS bowl victory since the 2000 Orange Bowl. “I’m just real proud,” Hoke said, noting that only five Michigan teams in 132 have won 11 games in a season. “Real proud of our seniors, real proud of how they took this football team last January and molded it and did a tremendous job,”
Virginia Tech had done what they could to win from wolverines, but the reality said another. Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said. “They weren’t stopping us; we were stopping ourselves.” From that quotation we can interpret that Virginia Tech’s lose was not the greatness of wolverines, but only Virginia didn’t play well. Virginia Tech senior receiver Danny Coale had eight catches for 117 yards, and almost made a outstanding diving catch for a touchdown in overtime. Coale held on to the ball for what was initially ruled a score, but the play was overturned on video review, which indicated the receiver narrowly landed on the sideline.
Jerry Angelo has been the manager of Chicago bears since 2001. Already 10 years he became general manager of the Chicago bears in 2011. There is the horrendous news that he has been fired. Facts are still coming out, but numerous reports are confirming that Jerry Angelo is fired as the General Manager of the Chicago Bears
Team said that ”President and CEO Ted Phillips informed Jerry Angelo this morning he will not return as the team’s general manager.”
According to the team’s official site ”No other changes will be made. That includes Lovie Smith, who will remain Bears head coach.”
Angelo, among many Bears fans was an unpopular figure, and regardless of the team being reasonably successful, has drawn ire for his mistake to draft adequately at the offensive line and skill positions. Angelo has made several free agent purchases and trades, such as the Cutler trade and signing Julius Peppers, but has not been as successful at drafting key parts. When Cutler got the injury, the lack of a backup and the problems that Cutler was shielding were exposed. He has also taken a hard stance with Matt Forte, the other star player on the Bears offense.
NY Jets star Santonio Holmes, A player once known as “Tone Time, is getting many critics for quitting on the team. His teammate said that “Holmes was benched for the final minutes of the Jets’ season-ending loss at Miami after arguing with teammates in the huddle.” Other teammates acknowledged the problem publicly but didn’t want to go into detail. “It’s been disturbing for a while,” guard Brandon Moore said.
Via Jets.com, the veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson gave opinion aboutthe issue in his postgame remarks. Tomlinson said that:
“Let me just say there were some guys in the huddle that were unhappy with Tone ‘s demeanor. When you have a group of guys that’s fighting their butts off, and one guy, for whatever reason, their demeanor’s not with them, you’re going to get some guys to say something to him and tell them how they feel. That’s what you got today.”
“I’ll tell you what, it’s tough for guys to follow a captain that kind of behaves in that manner. You’re a captain, guys looking at you. You’ve got to lead by example. You’ve got to play your tail off until the last play. And when that doesn’t happen, you will have guys look at you in the way that captains shouldn’t be looked at. You should always put yourself out there as a leader.
You know what, that’s something you’re going to have to talk to Tone about. He didn’t say anything. I think, once again, it’s demeanor. Body language tells players everything. I think that’s what it was.”
My advice to him, I’m going to talk to him. We’re going to keep it between us, the advice I’m going to give him. I don’t want to put it out in the media, the stuff I will tell Tone. But we will have a conversation.
PASADENA, Calif. — the 2012 Tournament of Roses spread human flowers to a worldwide in bright Monday. This parade fulfilled hundreds of anti-Wall Street protesters. The 123rd annual New Year’s Day event, with the theme “Just Imagine,” flowed along downtown Pasadena to the cheers of hundreds of thousands of sidewalk spectators. More than 40 million people were estimated viewing this year’s march of 44 floats. There are 116 marching bands and 22 riding troupes on U.S. television. The two-hour parade came several thousand anti-Wall Street protesters in a pre-arranged demonstration. The thunder of the retreating marching bands blended in the air with chants of “Banks got bailed out, we got sold out” as the Occupy the Rose Parade demonstrators retraced about 1.5 miles of the 5.5-mile parade route before veering off for a rally near City Hall.
They brought a 250-foot-long banner that said “We the People” to represent the U.S. Constitution. Some also held a 70-foot-long octopus made from recycle plastic bags that represented the tentacles of perceived corporate greed. As the protesters marched by, some Rose Parade spectators yelled “get a job” while others snapped photos and cheered.
Three truckloads of Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies gave guarding to this parade, and the protest was noisy but peaceful. Police, parade and city officials held some meetings with the protest organizers to ensure that they did not disrupt the parade.
“Everything went very, very well. We’re very pleased,” police Lt. Phlunte Riddle said.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Sacramento Kings and DeMarcus Cousins abruptly began to sever ties Sunday after the team said the promising young center demanded a trade. Coach Paul Westphal said DeMarcus Cousins who wanted a trade prior to the game. “Whenever a new season begins, in any sport, there is great hope that everything will progress in only a steady, upward direction,” Westphal said. “As we all know, it seldom happens like that in this life! As coaches, we can only ask that our players do everything they can to improve themselves as individuals and teammates. If they do this with all their hearts, we live with the results. He continued that everything that happens on a team does not become known to the public. This is how it should be. However, when a player continually, aggressively, lets it be known that he is unwilling to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely. “DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded. In the best interest of our team as we go forward, he has been directed by me, with the support of management, to stay home from the New Orleans game tonight.”
”I wasn’t informed of the Kings’ decision until Westphal’s announcement,”said John Greig as Cousins’s agen, in the phone. He also said had no idea what the king were doing.
