The healthy diet is no longer assumed as the non popular diet program. This healthy diet, the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), has been the most preferred healthy diet and took number 1 spot in best overall diet in the World Report’s Best Diets 2012 and U.S. News. The DASH diet also rates other popular diets in various categories such as the TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes), the Mediterranean Diet, the Mayo Clinic Diet, and the Volumetrics Diet.

This diet program is really considered as a solution of some treats like the increasing of the blood pressure (hypertension). Two major dietary factors that can influence hypertension are salt or sodium intake (which increases blood pressure) and potassium intake (which decreases blood pressure). DASH diet helps you to reduce your blood pressure by a few points in just two weeks.

‘Just two weeks’ doesn’t mean DASH diet is kind of tight and ambitious diet that forces you to eat in smallest portion as possible. It doesn’t take too long time because the DASH  diet suggest  you to reduce the salt in your diet and eat a variety of foods rich in nutrients that help lower blood pressure, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. “Because it increases the potassium and calcium in your diet, that in and of itself lowers blood pressure,” said Mary Hartley, the registered dietitian. “Those minerals have a role in maintaining the correct water and electrolyte balance.” She explains that many fruits and vegetables are loaded with potassium, which is why they are emphasized in the DASH Diet. Over time, your blood pressure could drop by eight to 14 points, which can make a significant difference in your health risks of hypertension and another treat such as osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes. One more good new about DASH diet, especially for the meatlovers; the study provides strong evidence that including daily lean beef in the gold-standard DASH diet has heart health benefits.Lean beef can contribute to a heart-healthy diet in the same way lean white meats can, according to nutritional scientists.

The DASH diet is not only for people who suffer from high blood pressure. It’s good for you, who want to get a complete lifestyle change that focuses on lean meats and proteins, low fat, low sodium, fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. It’s just more than a diet program, it’s an all-encompassing bag of good choices. The dietary change is also proposed to they who are treated in Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia. Mary suggests you to eat the number of calories that are necessary to maintain your ideal weight rather than drastically reducing your calories for a very short period of time. “They’ll lose if they eat the calories needed for their ideal weight, they’ll just lose more slowly.”

A healthy diet will help the lower risk of high blood and cancer, and more than it, a healthy and smart diet will makes you feel free of psychological pressure. Psychological treat could not be ignored, it will means nothing when you have a very small number for your pants but your mind is always in dizzy and scared of the pointer in your body scales. Diet is more than doing some programs and treatments  and getting the results you want instantly, but something that’s going to be with you for the rest of your life.
