John Edward, the ex-presidential candidate will need a medical procedure next month and requires surgery because of a serious heart condition. Edward’s doctor told a judge who delayed the trial that his illness limits his mobility, so, he will not able to attend the upcoming court case possible campaign violation. John Edward is accused of concealing almost 1$ million in cash and checks from wealthy donors used to help hide his pregnant mistress during his White House run in 2008.
According to the CNN report, Edwards is scheduled to undergo surgery in February and this trial has been delayed until at least March 26. The trial has already been delayed twice, including a continuance granted so Edward could attend his eldest daughter’s wedding.
The Federal Judge in North Carolina, Catherine Eagles, said the two-time presidential candidate had three episodes and indicated his condition could be getting worse and life-threatening if left untreated. But she didn’t explain the details and the exact nature of Edward’s illness Friday or what procedure he needed. She only said,” The public has an interest in a speedy trial, and this case has already been continued twice. Ordinarily, I would try to manage something like this, but clearly there’re some limitations on Mr. Edwards due to real and serious health issue.”
The statement from Eagles is probably referred to the public who don’t really sympathetic to the Edward’s heart condition. Maybe they prefer to give the sympathy to Edward’s dying wife whom Edward cheated on. Eagles seems like want to say that society deserve to know the result by a speedy trial and Edward also deserve to get a medical procedure. So, the judge need to give that chance to the Edward in makes his health get better, able to follow the trial procedure and finally the public will hear the justice about Edward’s case. We hope so. Hope it is only about time to hear the justice, because public just feel enough to hear the married and paternity story of Edward. Just wait and see.
