Motown Record Reissues the Memorable “What’s Going On” Album of Marvin Gaye0 comments

Marvin Gaye who is a departed singer-songwriter and musician with a four-octave vocal range started his career as a member of the doo-wop group The Moonglows in the late fifties. He was crowned “The Prince of Motown”and “The Prince of Soul” due to his work on solo hits such as “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)”, “Ain’t That Peculiar”, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and his duet singles with singers such as Mary Wells and Tammi Terrell.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of Marvin Gaye’s transcendental soul album “What’s Going On”, Motown Record’s is reissuing Marvin Gaye’s seminal masterwork by releasing the album as a deluxe collectors bundle. The reissues which are included in the package are two CD’s and a vinyl LP. The CD’s contain demos, B-sides, and the re-mastered original album. The LP, also containing the re-mastered original album, is on 180 gram audiophile quality vinyl. The album reflected the singer’s sorrow and spiritual distress at a time of great social and personal confusion. The 1971’s album was released during an era of Civil Rights protests, counter-culture politics and antiwar demonstrations, as well as amid many personal problems of American at the time.
