After reviewing the death of famed actress Natalie Wood Wagner in 1981, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is now reopening the case. “Recently Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators were contacted by persons who stated they had additional information about the Natalie Wood Wagner drowning. Due to the additional information, Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau has decided to take another look at the case,” The LA Sheriff’s Department released a statement. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that homicide detectives want to talk to the captain of the boat because of comments he had made recounting the case on its 30th anniversary.

Wood was on her yacht with her husband, Robert Wagner and fellow actor Christopher Walken on Thanksgiving weekend 30 years ago when she went overboard. The huge star died in 1981 in a drowning accident near Catalina Island in California as officials ruled her death was an accident, claiming Wood was drunk on “seven or eight” glasses of wine. The next day, Wood’s body was found floating in a cove. How Natalie fell into the water is a mystery. Wood appeared in more than 56 movies and was nominated for three Academy Awards, according to the Official Natalie Wood website. At the first show in the entertainment world, Wood became a child star at age 4 after playing the role of Susan Walker in “Miracle on 34th Street.”
