There will be matchups of the 1996 Orange Bowl which will decide a game winner as the Nebraska Cornhuskers will play the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Capital One Bowl. The Huskers will meet South Carolina and the “Ol’ Ball Coach” in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 2 in Orlando, Fla. The Capital One Bowl is played annually in Orlando, Florida in the Citrus Bowl. The game will be played on Monday this year because January 1st falls on a Sunday not like the previous games which were played on New Year’s Day, just before the Rose Bowl. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, streamed on-line live on ESPN3 and in 3D on ESPN 3D.
“Outside of the BCS, the Capital One Bowl is arguably the top bowl game out there,” Nebraska’s coach Bo Pelini said. “Our team has battled through a lot this year to reach this point, and we look forward to the opportunity to earn a 10th win this season.” Nebraska finished the regular season at 9-3 with a Big Ten conference record of 5-3. On the other hand, South Carolina has achieved its three in a row winnings, including an impressive regular-season-ending 34-13 victory against in-state rival and ACC champ Clemson. South Carolina finished 2011 with a regular season record of 10-2 and 6-2 in conference play.
