Daphne Guinness is an artist of Irish, English, and French descent and an heiress of the Guinness family whose her original name is The Honourable Daphne Diana Joan Suzannah Guinness. She is well-known for her fashion which is considered as one of today’s most original fashion trends. Recently, the collection of Daphne Guinness is the subject of The Museum at FIT’s new exhibition. She opened her gallery on September 16th in NYC and is on view until January 7th 2012.
The Museum at FIT chose to display over 100 garments and accessories from Daphne Guinness, a living fashion legend who outfits herself almost entirely in haute couture and custom designer pieces. More than 100 pieces from Daphne Guinness’ personal couture collection are now on display at The FIT Museum. In a detailed interview with The New Yorker for a contour published this week, the brewery heiress told the magazine she had 2,500 pieces in her wardrobe, along with 450 pairs of shoes which nearly all are made by the most sought after and highly recognized creators in the business. The Daphne Guinness exhibition exposes how Guinness, who is not only a serious collector of couture but also a imaginative vigor in her own right, uses fashion to transform herself.
